Should have stuck with the F-22 comparison. Stealth is expensive and only marginally effective in a reactive stance. They are focusing on other things clearly. Like the powerplant development platform, for example....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-14065086312206325012011-01-12T17:47:46.849-08:002011-01-12T17:47:46.849-08:00It's not actually stealthy at all, and no wher...It's not actually stealthy at all, and no where near a 5th gen fighter, those hella big canards give it away. Even from a front aspect, those canards will bounce signal to hell and gone. The fact of those canards means the fly by wire controls aren't up to the task, so they sure as hell aren't up to fifth generation situational awareness computational or network tasks. And by the size of the plane, it'll be way to heavy for those engines. It won't be able to carry a weapons load or a large amount of fuel. If it's not a photoshop gag, it's a test vehicle like Tacit Blue.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-31246969502456573892011-01-09T08:48:21.765-08:002011-01-09T08:48:21.765-08:00With the PRC the important thing to note is the &q...With the PRC the important thing to note is the "pace of development"

PRC had the shortest development time of producing a nuclear bomb,
Similar pattern is taking hold in Economics by a margin which defies any example in Earth's 4 billion year history so far.

And same goes for military hardware,
J-20 might not be fully stealth (even F22 isn't 100% stealth)

Whats more important is the pace at which PRC is moving towards achieving parity.
WIll take decades ofcourse but this shit usualy takes centuries dammit.

And when you have parity it's one with more dough that wins, and for 5000 years China was ahead in monies by a margin which is just ridiculous when now seen in retrospect.Varunnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-23367742780791021032011-01-08T07:47:01.501-08:002011-01-08T07:47:01.501-08:00Great article as always.Great article as always.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-9302678460903184802011-01-07T19:15:13.513-08:002011-01-07T19:15:13.513-08:00Looks like they bolted the front of an F-22 on a R...Looks like they bolted the front of an F-22 on a Russian Mikoyan 1.42.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-89463734393862615262011-01-07T10:59:15.575-08:002011-01-07T10:59:15.575-08:00The way the media were hyping Chinas stealth fight...The way the media were hyping Chinas stealth fighter it was like we were about to get invaded and we'd all be living in Red Dawn. Current stealth tech works well in an offensive you can carefully let the weathermen sweat over beforehand. Bits o' ice, contrails, etc., plague stealth tech from one end of the spectrum to the other. A F-117 looks like something between a lumbering F-16 and a fast barn door when it collects ice on the inside of the intakes.

The J-20 is merely a manned dust cover for the real prize- the domestic WS-10/15 propulsion program. It's the power plant, stupid. Always has been, especially now (Remember the F-136? Egad). The Chinese *will* have a successful engine eventually, and the fancy winged dust cover they bolt on to it will probably be a lot more interesting.

The big news is old news (the ballistic anti-ship unit). Inevitable. Formidable. This and subsurface tech are being developed to a degree that could essentially render the USN useless for anything but birthday favors and deficits.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-111395980737563171.post-81449051769349374612011-01-07T07:07:46.113-08:002011-01-07T07:07:46.113-08:00http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ham6vFy8v2I
